Performance Pet to expand on East Havens, as Mayor Everson lauds growth

MITCHELL — Performance Pet Products is boosting its output, breaking ground on a 14,000-square-foot expansion — about a quarter of a football field’s worth of facility space added on to their operation on East Havens Avenue in Mitchell.

“We hope that it will bring more people into the city of Mitchell and increase the tax base — and attract more people,” said Dale Bednarek, president and CEO of Farmers Union Industries, which owns Performance Pet, during a groundbreaking on Monday, Sept. 18. “Ultimately, we really want to go 24/7 to run this thing as efficiently as we should — it’s built to do 24/7.”
