Companies turning ‘guts into gold’
Most people don’t want to think about the blood, feathers, carcasses, grease, and offal (by-products) that remain once animals are harvested. But what happens to what’s left?Farmers are the original recyclers, so it’s fitting that a company called Farmers Union Industries creates usable items from by-products. This company was formed by farmers 90 years ago and is owned by Farmers Union Enterprises, made up of South Dakota Farmers Union, Minnesota Farmers Union, Montana Farmers Union, North Dakota Farmers Union and Wisconsin Farmers Union.
