Job purpose

Safely operates company owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations of raw materials and finished product trailers.

As a key member of the plant operations team, the Twin-Axel Driver personnel will:

  • Be jointly responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the company’s goals.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, customer service and professionalism; responsible for promoting a positive image of the company
  • Operates company owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations of raw materials and finished product trailers
  • Performs required before-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” and provides required reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Provides outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
  • Assists with loading and unloading of pallets and/or using a forklift
  • Assist with maintenance of trucks and trailers as needed; may include minor repairs and/or notifying management of major repairs needed
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
  • Accurately maintain driver log information using handheld device or paper log as required
  • Have a working knowledge of DOT, federal and state regulations pertaining to transportation
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment per DOT and federal and state regulations
  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
  • Follows all safety procedures and maintains housekeeping of facility (cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, tools and totes, repair of pallets, proper disposal of waste products, etc.)
  • Accurately and legibly completes all paperwork in a timely manner and maintains records as required

Qualifications, Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)  preferred
  • One year or more of truck driving experience desired
  • Ability to possess and maintain a current state Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to possess and maintain a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate Health Card
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability and willingness to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner always

Working conditions

  • Able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to sit and drive for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work required hours
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors and co-workers, customers and regulatory officials

  • Accurately perform basic mathematical skills
  • Accurately and legibly record required information and data
